Dr. Carol Denniston and I will be presenting a new group this fall: a collection of practical skills drawing upon Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based practices that can be applied to everyday life. We look forward to sharing our combined 15-years of experience teaching these skills.

Who is this group for? This group is for adults wanting to learn more effective ways to cope with life's day-to-day challenges that can sometimes lead us to become overwhelmed, stressed, ineffective, and burned out. We will be learning new ways to manage stress, bring greater awareness to the present moment, regulate emotions, and improve relationships through effective communication. We will also be discussing how to set limits with others, strategies to balance your needs with the needs of others, and self-care strategies. We hope that these fundamental tools will bring you a sense of wellbeing as well as living a life in line with one's values.

This is an 8-week group and will meet via telepsychology using a secure online videoconferencing platform on Mondays from 12:00 – 2:00. The cost for the group will be $1080/8-weeks or $135 per group. Because we are limiting group participants to no more than 8, you will be charged each week regardless of whether or not you attend that particular week. We are planning to begin this group on Monday, September 9. Group will not meet on September 30 (National Day for Truth and Reconciliation), October 14 (Thanksgiving) or November 11 (Remembrance Day). The last session will be Monday, November 18.

Please contact me for more information or to register for the group. If this group is full, we can place you on the waitlist for the next group.

Please note that this is not a DBT skills group or a group for those who are struggling with serious mental health challenges. This group is also not a substitute for psychological treatment or part of comprehensive DBT. Comprehensive DBT consists of individual DBT, a 26-week DBT skills group, skills coaching, and team consultation. If you are in need of comprehensive DBT or other treatment, we can provide you with some resources.
